PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Enrollment in Yokheved Biblical College is limited to those who give testimony of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and who are in essential agreement with the school’s statement of faith.

The administration and faculty reserve the right to withdraw the privilege of enrollment from any student who, after admission, may prove to be lacking in these essential qualifications. In evaluating all applications, the Admissions Committee will look for evidence of increasing Christian maturity, normally with at least two years of growth as a Christian.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The is no academic qualification expected from students aiming to join the Certificate in Theological Studies program. Students with certificates and diplomas in Theological Studies or relevant disciplines could join the Associate in Theological Studies and Bachelor of Theological Studies programs. They will be accepted into the program on the basis of satisfactory grades in their individual credentials from past certificates and diplomas, and/or high school. Students can join the Bachelor in Theological Studies program at the school with a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) minimum of 2.5 for previous Associate Degree or undergraduate work.

Applicants without academic credentials or who are graduates of unaccredited institutions or who present grade-point averages lower than 2.5 may be considered for probationary admission status if their references include unusually high recommendations for potential ministry.

Graduates of Bible colleges, Christian liberal arts colleges, and secular colleges and universities are encouraged to apply. Bible courses are also recommended, providing the student is attending an institution where such courses are competently taught in a context of faith and obedience.


APPLICATION PROCEDURES

All who are seeking admission to the school should submit an application form available on the school website or through the Admissions Office. The following items are required:

  1. Completed school application form (answering all applicable questions in full)

  2. A non-refundable application fee of $50

  3. A photo ID of the applicant

  4. A completed Spouse Reference Form (If married or engaged)

  5. Three personal reference forms from Pastor/Elder, a second church leader, an academic instructor, employer, etc.

The references should be distributed by the applicant and are to be mailed directly to the school from the person completing the form. The reference must include an affirmation of the applicant’s fitness and giftedness for Christian ministry

  1. Official transcript(s) showing that an undergraduate degree was conferred. The GPA must be included (not applicable for the Certificate in Theology program). It should be sent directly from the institution to the school office.

Note:

A personal interview may be arranged with the Dean and/or the Review Committee. If married, the committee may request an interview with the applicant’s wife as well.International Student Application Requirements

Life at Yokheved Biblical College is enriched, and missionary vision is enlarged by the presence of international students. The school’s purpose for existence is expanded by the opportunities to equip international students for ministry.

In addition to the above requirements, international students should

  • submit official copies of the applicant’s transcripts sent directly from a former institution to YBS.

  • All foreign transcripts must be translated and evaluated for equivalency.

A decision for admission will not be made until all required documents have been received. Once everything is received, a decision will be made as soon as possible, and the applicant will be notified and will receive a registration and information packet.


NON-DEGREE STUDENTS

Students who are not intending to complete a program or who have not been officially admitted to a degree program are classified as non-degree students. Enrollment as a non-degree student is permitted for no more than 12 credit hours for two semesters (a total of 24 credit hours). Permission to enroll for an additional 12 credit hours must be requested by the student and approved by the Dean.


Program Orientation

A program orientation at the beginning of each semester, orientation is held for incoming students. Attendance is required. An unexcused absence usually requires postponement until the following semester. Orientation sessions are critical to becoming successful in the school and include devotional messages, introductions, various student instructions, an opportunity to get to know fellow incoming students, and an evening for new students and wives to meet the faculty in a social setting.
